BriarPatch Food Co-op’s November ‘Field Day’ Promotion Highlighting Products While Strengthening Indigenous Foodways

Grass Valley and Auburn, CA– Throughout the month of November 2024, BriarPatch Food Co-op will be working in partnership with National Co-op Grocers (NCG) to highlight the ‘Field Day’ line of products with promotional pricing and a commitment by NCG to donate to strengthen Indigenous foodways.

Strengthening Indigenous Foodways

Says NCG: “Grocers benefit greatly from the widespread celebration of Thanksgiving, and at the same time, we acknowledge that the Thanksgiving myth is inaccurate and harmful to Indigenous communities. In recognition, NCG is partnering with NĀTIFS (North American Traditional Indigenous Food Systems) and donating $0.05 to for every Field Day product sold during November A/B promotional periods. NĀTIFS is an Indigenous-led organization working to strengthen Native foodways nationally. NCG estimates that this campaign will result in a donation of about $100,000 to NĀTIFS!”

NCG’s inspiration for this campaign comes from PCC Community Markets in Seattle, WA.

The Field Day line of products is a wide selection of value-priced items with an emphasis on non-GMO, organic and quality products. They’re offered in a wide selection of categories, offer ingredients/materials with high standards of quality and certification, and are priced competitively.

BriarPatch’s two locations will be featuring food demonstrations and original recipes that showcase Field Day products, as well as some promotions and giveaways for shoppers throughout the month. In addition, the Co-op will also be donating $0.05 for each Field Day product sold during the first half of the campaign – 10/30 – 11/12/2024 – at the Grass Valley or Auburn locations – up to a total of $250 – to the November Round Up At The Register recipients for each store, CHIRP (Grass Valley) and Chapa-De (Auburn).

Says Patti Glenn, BriarPatch Food Co-op Brand Coordinator: “This campaign is a great opportunity for co-ops across the country to come together in partnership and support Indigenous foodways. We’re excited to bolster the Round Up at the Register totals for each of November’s recipients as a part of this effort and look forward to raising awareness as well as lots of funds to be donated both locally and at the national level.”
